Speaking of Economics and Television

Economics of Tivo.

For purposes of full disclosure my Tivo is setting on a shelf in the basement storage right now. However, we do have the Dishnetwork HD DVR and use it quite extensively.

Secondly, I am not certain the value of my time or happiness is $18.00 an hour.

I always wonder the same thing as that guy "Why hasn’t TiVo been adopted more broadly?". Everyone should have one, I can't imagine not having mine! Plus an added benefit to everyone getting one would be that their stock might go up a bit.

And don't sell yourself short...your value is worth much more than $18/hr!

I love our Tivo an honestly can't imagine not having it. That said, I always look skeptically at these time/money conversions. I mean, you could do it for just about everything. I shouldn't be mowing my grass, shoveling, or any other household task. I probably shouldn't even take care of my own kids because it might be more economical based upon my hourly rate to hire someone to do it full time. My Tivo is about a choice I make for the time I allot to entertainment, not a financial one. Of course the drawback is that I ould probably watch less TV if I didn't have a Tivo - and I'm certain that my kids would.
